Aquatic Invasive Species and NW Permits

Spread of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) continue to be a major concern for northwest seaplane operators.

A ‘Waterway Access Permit’ is available on line at the Oregon State Marine Board or Oregon Dept of Fish & Wildlife websites.

Oregon also requires a Boater Registration Card.

Washington State requires an Aquatic Invasive Species permit to be carried by seaplanes.

The four northwestern states have adopted an AIS training program available on line at  www.SeaplaneAisTraining.com

Take the 2020 course, which supersedes previous training, and carry the completion certificate and state permit(s) in your seaplane.

Also keep a record of waterways used and decontamination performed.

The Washington Seaplane Pilots Association is an  active advocate for continued seaplane access in the northwest states. I strongly recommend that any Oregon seaplane owners or operators maintain a membership in WSPA.
